Matt Smith will be the Eleventh Doctor since the series began in 1963 and takes over from the tenth Doctor Who, David Tennant, in either the 2009/2010 special. Matt Smith was announced as the new Doctor Who on Doctor Who Confidential on BBC1 at 5.35pm on Saturday Jan 3rd 2009.
